After a string of rumors and leaks and even a cancelled launch event, Google and LG have announced the Nexus 4. The Google Nexus 4 also becomes the first phone to run Android 4.2, which is also called Jelly Bean. The handset will first be listed online on Google play (in selected markets) and later on by end of November it will be available in retail stores (in selected countries).
The LG Nexus 4 handset will come powered by an S4 quad-core Snapdragon processor by Qualcomm clocked at 1.5GHz. The display screen will be of 4.7 inches IPS supporting resolution of 1280×768 pixels. The display resolution no doubt will be simply amazing at 320ppi. Hardware wise the Nexus 4 distinctively
resembles its predecessor, the Samsung made Galaxy Nexus. That said, internally, the Nexus 4 is a completely different animal as it is powered by a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, which is currently considered to be one of the fastest chips out there.
As for the memory it’s with 2GB RAM following the same tradition of the Galaxy Note 2. It has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megpaixel front facing camera. Google and LG talk about a new feature called Photo Sphere, which is presumably a new feature in Android 4.2 that allows panorama shots. Additionally, it has a 2,100 mAh battery developed by LG Chem. Memory wise, LG is being a little fickle as it only offers 8GB and 16GB versions with no microSD expansion slot.
Other features of the device include NFC and Wireless Charging. The Nexus 4 will be available online via Google Play in select markets on November 13 and Google says offline availability of the Nexus 4 will begin in late November for Asia, Central/South America, Europe, CIS and the Middle East.
