Micromax enters home entertainment, launches LED TVs, starting Rs. 15,990

Micromax, which is known for its low-cost handsets, is now widening its offerings and has announced its entry into the home entertainment segment in India. Micromax Introduces  6 LED TVs, 2 Home Theaters, 1 3D Blu-Ray player and an Android Dongle dubbed the SMART stick.

The LED TVs range from 24-inch to 55-inch. These models have been priced between Rs 15,990 and Rs 1,29,990. The company expects a revenue of Rs. 225 crore from this the TV segment in this fiscal. The company is targeting 5-8 percent of revenues (Rs. 140-225 crore) this fiscal from the television segment.

says, Rajesh Agarwal, Micromax Managing Director and Co-founder .

Micromax has set up a 1 lakh sq. ft. of manufacturing facility spread over 5 acres, with a production capacity of 2,000 LED TV units per day at Rudrapur, Uttarakhand. The facility will also double up to manufacture the tablet PC Funbook and mobile accessories. The LED TVs will be initially launched in nine states like Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Rajasthan across 24-inch to 55-inch range. The televisions will be priced between Rs. 15,990 and Rs. 1,29,990.

 The LED TVs range from 24-inch to 55-inch and comes with HDMI support and is powered by AVEA (Audio Visual Entertainment Architecture). The AVEA feature offers full HD resolution for the videos with dynamic contracts with better color clarity, image detail and clear HD surround sound. It also has plug and play USB support that lets you connect an mp3 player, digital camera, hard drives etc. to play videos and videos of 14 different formats.

Micromax  Android dongle with Android 4.0.4 and Motion Controller

The Micromax Smart Stick Android dongle is aimed at consumers who wish to convert their TV into an Android TV. It is powered by Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich. The 1 GHz Android dongle is priced at Rs 4,990 and has a standard HDMI interface, internal 4GB nand flash, and Wi-fi direct connection. Also, it supports keyboard, mouse and game pad connections. 
The company has also launched two home theater models HT037F1 and HT089F1 which have been at Rs 5,990 and Rs 6,990. Micromax's 3D Blu Ray player supports 2D and 3D video/audio formats. It comes at a price of Rs 6,490.
