The Lumia 510 has been launched at a press event in New Delhi, Lumia 510 features a 4-inch display with WVGA resolution (480×800 pixels), a 5-megapixel camera, a 800MHz single-core processor 4GB internal memory and 256MB of RAM. It will come with 7GB of SkyDrive cloud storage. It comes with a 1,300mAh battery and does not have a front-facing camera. It will come with Nokia Maps, Nokia Transport and Nokia Drive navigation apps. Nokia is also bundling three-months of unlimited Nokia Music and Nokia MixRadio subscription with the smartphone.
Users will also be able to download ‘Camera Extras’ a suite of photography related apps that are exclusive to Nokia Lumia devices. It will receive Windows Phone 7.8 update as soon as it is available. The specifications of Nokia Lumia 510 are almost in line (even better in some cases) with the Nokia Lumia 610. Nokia has announced a price tag of $199 which makes it somewhere around Rs 11000 in India which is again at par with the Nokia Lumia 610.
Nokia is targeting markets like India and China for this phone expecting it to penetrate the lower strata of Smartphone users shifting up from an Asha Phone to a smart phone. Sales are planned to begin in November, starting with India and China, and followed closely by other Asia-Pacific countries and South America.
With this pricing Nokia 510 starts from where the territory of Asha series ends. Asha series is doing pretty well in the entry level segment. The introduction of this mobile will let Nokia strengthen its position in the middle level segment as well. Note that the cheapest 4 incher Android mobile from an International brand is LG E612 with a price tag of 12.5k, so Nokia certainly has a less competition here.
