Micromax Launches Their First Quad Core Canvas HD (A116), 5 inch 720p display For Rs 13,999

As I have Previously Posted That Micromax is Ready To Launch Their First Quad-Core Canvas 3, After the Success of Canvas 2 (A110) and Pixel Series Micromax Riding High Launched Their First Quad-Core Processor Canvas HD Yesterday at a press event held in Delhi. The Micromax A116 Canvas HD is powered by a Mediatek MT6589 chipset that has a quad core 1.2 GHz processor and PowerVR SGX5 GPU, the device is laden with 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of storage. The front has a nice and vivid 16.7 Million color 5 inch IPS display with a resolution of (1280 x720) hence the Canvas HD moniker.

The Micromax A116 Canvas HD is almost identical in design to the the A110 but seems a bit sleeker and more defined along the edges. The camera was non functional on the prototype unit that we handled, but the company says is better than the one on the A110. The Canvas HD also has an improved light perfonce in the front camera and an enhanced speaker if Micromax is to be believed

Commenting at the launch of the Micromax Canvas A116HD, Deepak Mehrotra, CEO, Micromax announced that Micromax is the largest partner for MediaTek worldwide and is part of MediaTek’s “Tiger Team”, which helps them to find more ways of penetrating into the emerging markets. This new processor platform can support up to 13MP camera and provides enhanced optics. MediaTek says that the new processor reduces power consumption by up to 90 percent as compared to MediaTek’s previous line of processors.

Micromax will launch 30 smartphones in India this year, CEO Deepak Mehrotra revealed during the launch of the A116 Canvas HD phablet. The company has been on a streak of launching smartphones since mid-2012 and has introduced a number of best-selling products including the Pixel A90S and its Canvas range of phablets. 
According to Mehrotra, Micromax became India’s number one brand in phablets in the last quarter of 2012. The Indian handset brand claims to have imported 198,000 units of phablets (defined as smartphones with displays larger than 5-inches) during the period compared to Samsung’s 189,000 units of Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note II. Other vendors imported just 38,000 units during the same period. The numbers, provided by Micromax, remain unverified at the moment.
