Samsung India Recently, has launched it’s Galaxy Grand smartphone for the Indian market at Rs.21,500. At launch the Galaxy Grand will ship with color matched flip covers in the box. Once the launch offer is over, the device should drop to a street price of anywhere in between of Rs.17,000-18,000 according to Samsung execs. As We Know Micromax Had Launched Their Canvas HD Yesterday for Rs 15,000 which Can Make Dent On Samsung Sales. The Galaxy Grand smartphone bears a striking resemblance to company’s current flagship device, the Galaxy S3 but nonetheless, can be a decent option for those who don’t want to spend upwards of Rs.30,000 for the S3. Is It Micromax Canvas HD Rival ?

Smartphones with large screen seem to have been flooding the market in past few months, as most of the major brands have some or the other offerings launched in this arena. While it is not just the biggies like Samsung getting big in this segment, players like Micromax and Karbonn are not far behind. Keeping the needs of users alongside price point in mind, Samsung recently has brought the Samsung Galaxy Grand to the Indian market. The device does pack in an array of interesting features, but at a price of Rs 21,500 will it really be able to give its desi competitors, Micromax Canvas HD A116, a run for their money, we take a look at the specs.
The Galaxy Grand is a dual-SIM smartphone and features a 5-inch display but only with a WVGA resolution. This is a bit disappointing as other smartphones in the same price segment already offer much better display than the Galaxy Grand. Powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM, the device comes with 8GB of internal storage along with a micro-SD card slot for storage expansion by up to 64GB.
The screen size is the most prominent factors that keeps the two devices running in the same line. Micromax’s latest addition to its Canvas series, the Canvas HD A116 is one feature laden smartphone as it comes with a 5.0-inch 720p HD IPS display. The Samsung Galaxy Grand carries a 5.0-inch TFT display with a WVGA resolution. Good stuff, but the Grand is let down by a boring 480x800-pixel screen resolution, that pales in comparison to the 720x1,280 pixels you'd find nestled within the Galaxy S3 or Note 2's panel, or the 640x1,136 pixel display on the iPhone 5. It supports HD playback. In terms of the display resolution the Micromax Canvas HD holds the edge.
On software front, the Micromax HD A116 and Samsung Galaxy Grand run on the Android Jelly Bean Apart from this, as the processor plays a vital role to boost up the performance of any device, the Samsung Galaxy Grand rocks a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. The Micromax Canvas HD A116 surely comes with a surprise as it has a 1.2GHz quad-core processor.
The big deal out here is that the Micromax HD A116 leverages a quad-core MediaTek CPU that leverages the ARM Cortex A7 platform. Cortex A7 has a lower thermal footprint than Cortex A9 in the Galaxy Grand, but at the same time it’s not as powerful. That means we can expect the performance and battery longevity to be comparable, even though one is a quad-core smartphone, while the other one has a dual-core processor. That said, the Micromax HD A116 does have a PowerVR series 5XT GPU that allows for full-HD video, and 720p display resolutions.
On the back, the Samsung Galaxy Grand features an 8 megapixel primary camera with LED flash and front 2 megapixel, which if Samsung is to be believed has “enhanced optics”. At first it just seems like a bunch of gimmicks, only a final review will tell. The camera however zero shutter-lag and a backside illumination sensor. Micromax Also Feature 8 Mp but Front Camera is Good as 2MP camera.
Better news is that you get 8GB of on-board storage plus space for a microSD card, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will come pre-loaded in Samsung Galaxy Grand and host 1 Gb Of Ram. Micromax A116 Also Host Same Feature as Galaxy Grand except The 4Gb internal Storage.
Some distinguishing features in the Samsung Galaxy Grand include “Direct Call”- which enables users to automatically dial a call by raising the smartphone to the ear, “Popup video” allows the users to watch a video in a pop-up window anywhere on the screen while running other tasks on the device and the “AllShare Play” feature allows the users of the device to share content across different Samsung devices using just a single account.
Verdict: Now You have to Decide Which Suite You Best By Spending Less Money or Spending More. My Verdict Goes For Micromax Canvas HD as it Have quad-core Feature in it which is More Powerful then Dual-Core On Galaxy Grand and it Cost is also Less then Galaxy Grand. I think Samsung Will See The Price Decline After its Launch to Beat Canvas HD. Here are List of Feature Given Below For You to choose Best:-
