Nokia Launches Lumia 520 With Window Phone 8 In India At Affordable Price of Rs 10,500

Nokia has extended the lineup of it’s Lumia range of smartphones in India and announced the Nokia Lumia 720 and the Lumia 520. The Nokia Lumia 520 is set to be the most affordable Windows Phone 8 smartphone till date and will be priced at approximately Rs.10,500 when it hits the stores next week. The Lumia 520 features the third-generation Lumia design and looks similar to the Lumia 620 with its curved corners and back, something that the company calls the human design.

Launching the new devices, Vipul Malhotra, Director-Smart Devices, India Middle East Africa, Nokia said, "The WP8 momentum is building and Nokia is charging ahead with the Lumia series. The launch of Nokia Lumia 720 and Nokia Lumia 520 reflects our commitment to build a winning ecosystem that will enrich people's mobile experience and help them connect with each other at newer price points. The two new smart devices will further invigorate brand Nokia with amongst the new generation of smartphone purchasers."

The Lumia 520 features a 4-inch WVGA IPS display that comes with the super-sensitive mode that enables users to use the touchscreen even while wearing gloves or with their fingernails. Like the Lumia 720, it too comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz, 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot. It comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera that can shoot 720p videos but omits a front camera. It also does not have NFC connectivity. 
However, the Lumia 520 still offers great value for money as it comes with Nokia’s music and navigation services. It also comes with pre-installed lens apps to add more value to the camera. It sports a 1,430mAh battery that Nokia claims will provide up to 14.8 hours of 2G talktime or up to 9.6 hours of 3G talktime. Users will be able to browse the Internet on cellular networks for up to 6.7 hours or on Wi-Fi for up to 6.1 hours or play music continuously for up to 61 hours. 

On the other hand, the Nokia Lumia 720 would be available in India by mid-April and though the exact pricing of the smartphone in India wasn’t mentioned, the executives from Nokia mentioned that the smartphone will be priced at 249 euros (~Rs.17,500) plus taxes.

To make the deal more lucrative for buyers, Nokia has announced that the buyers of Nokia Lumia 520 will get 1GB of free 3G data for two month on Rcom’s network whereas the buyers of Nokia Lumia 720 will get 2GB of free 3G data for two months on Idea Cellular.
