After a rough ride last year 2013 has brought in some pace for General Motors (GM). Not only has the American car major seen strong sales of its Chevrolet sail sedan launched earlier this year, and a pickup in demand for the hatchback version. However, now the company is also working on a three pronged strategy to hike its market share. The compact SUV and MPV segment has really picked up in India of late, with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova enjoying runaway success and the Ford EcoSport hitting the Indian market in the summer this year. The Enjoy is Chevrolet’s hope to give the Ertiga competition, and at first glance it seems more than capable of doing just that.
The new multi-purpose vehicle is basically an upgraded version of the Chinese made Wuling CN-100 van, a product of General Motors-SAIC-Wuling partnership. The Enjoy will take on Maruti Ertiga and Nissan Evalia.
P Balendran, vice-president, General Motors India said, "Last year we sold about 92,435 units and again 100,000 units was sold in the previous year. So that means 2012 has not been good for us. However, one has to understand that we have phased out 3 vehicles in 2012, including Optra and Aveo."
The Chevrolet Enjoy has very spacious interiors which can seat 7 or 8 people depending on whether the middle row has a bench seat or captain seats. It comes with simple but comfortable interiors offering power steering, power windows, stereo and air conditioning. Safety features include anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution and dual front airbags. With a straightforward design, the Chevrolet Enjoy surely won’t blow anyone away, but it ticks all the right boxes considering what one would want from an affordable and spacious entry-level MPV, and should ‘Enjoy’ its fair bit of success.
Enjoy comes with dual tone interiors, wood and finish AC vents. It boasts of features like tilt adjustable steering, 12V power outlet in 3rd row, front and rear power windows, power adjustable OVRM and height adjustable driver seat. The top-end LTZ variant comes with twin air bags for the front passengers, EBD, ABS, remote keyless entry with buzzer and rear wiper with washer. General Motors is offering a 3 year /1 lakh kms warranty for the Enjoy.
