In Picture: Nissan Could Launch its New Duster named Terrano In Diwali Season 2013

The Duster SUV’s been Renault India’s biggest success till date in the Indian car market and alliance partner Nissan wants to ride the tiger too. The Duster based Nissan SUV will be launched by the end of 2013, with the Indian festive season of Dusshera-Diwali being a launch time frame for the Nissan SUVs launch. The Duster based SUV from Nissan is expected to be a brand engineered model albeit with enough changes to its looks to ensure that it manages to hold its own when compared with the Renault Duster.

The Nissan based Duster SUV will get revamped front and rear ends. However, the overall profile of the Nissan SUV is expected to be similar to that of the Renault Duster. Considering the impending launch of the Ford EcoSport compact SUV, the Duster based SUV from Nissan is expected to be the Renault-Nissan alliance’s price warrior.

But, the Terrano will be slightly priced over the Renault Duster, expected to be around Rs. 50,000 – 75,000 more than Duster. The partnership agreement between Renault and Nissan, states a clause that the secondary launch of a cross-badged model should have to be slightly overpriced than the primary version of same model launched earlier. Like we seen the cross-badging of same engineering between Nissan’s Sunny and Micra with Renault’s Scala and Pulse. We Hope That Rs 50,000 Or 75,000 will No Affect its Craze or Sales.

Nissan India Terrano Sketch
Nissan India has also released a sketch of its Renault Duster-based SUV called the "Terrano". The entry-level SUV will be the fourth Nissan to be manufactured at the Oragadam plant along with the Micra, Sunny and Evalia. In addition to exterior changes, we expect added features in the interior, reversing the current trend of Renault-badged Nissans that have more kit. The Terrano will receive a face similar to other global Nissan SUVs. The headlamps, grille and bumper assembly are new and we expect fresh alloy wheels. The side section may look identical to the Duster while at the rear, the lamps may have LED elements to them.

You can see from the sketch that the Terrano has a bold and distinctive design that I am confident will appeal to our growing customer base in India, as will its driving performance and range of other features that will be revealed at a later date.

Inside, things are expected to remain substantially the same, save of course for the badge changes and a few additional features – possibly reverse parking assist among others. We expect Nissan to launch the Terrano within a few months and with the same choice of 104PS petrol and 85 and 110PS diesel engines from the Duster. Terrano will be powered by the same 1.5-litre K9K series diesel and 1.6-litre petrol engine. Climate control and better interior ergonomics are the must needed changes that Nissan should make in Terrano. The transmission will be same 5-speed and 6-speed manual gearbox as in the respective variants of the Duster.

Nissan Terrano Will Face the Biggest Competitor Not From The Renault Duster, It will be Faced by the Ford Ecosport If It Get The Price tag of 6 Lakhs, Then It will Prove the Biggest Turning Point For Ford And  Indian Buyers Get Attracted By the Price First Then the Rest. That Dosent Mean The Ranault Duster will Sit And Watch Nissan Terrano to Take Over the Market. Renault Also Think To Launch the Facelift Of Renault Duster at Some Time. Join #Terrano On Facebook
