If Apple lowers the cost of owning an iPhone, more people will buy them. And because the profit margins on even a lower-cost iPhone are so much higher than the margins on Apple’s other products, the net effect will be to lift the company’s gross margin.

Apple’s low-end iPhone will use the same 4-inch display as the iPhone 5 and iPod touch. Possible new details emerge in the site’s description of the device, however. “This new model is actually a cross between the iPhone 5, fifth-generation iPod touch, and… wait for it… the iPod classic,” the report claims. “It will have a 4” screen, like the iPhone 5, a bottom like the latest iPod touch, and a shape that’s most similar to the iPod classic.”

We have been seeing Apple’s rumored plastic (read cheaper) iPhone cropping up on the Internet quite frequently in the past month or two. Now, SlashGear has spotted a set of comparison photos between the cheaper iPhone and the iPhone 5 that show both the phones from every angle. With the images, both the roundness and ample plastic become strikingly apparent, as well as some design changes that exist between the two of them. There’s also a couple shots of the plastic iPhone’s innards

While the back of both the plastic iPhone and the iPhone 5 look the same in terms of design, we see the differences in other shots. The bottom, for example, of the plastic iPhone features four speaker holes on one side of the connection slot, while the iPhone 5 has more robust grilles on either side. The volume buttons are also different, with the plastic iPhone’s being elongated rather than circular.

Additionally, the new report also for the first time talks about two variants of the cheaper iPhone allegedly codenamed ‘Zenevo’ and the ‘Zagato/Bertone’. The variants are said to look the same but will feature slight differences on the hardware front. Zenovo is reported to feature a dual-core Samsung H5P processor, 1GB of RAM and Bluetooth 4.0, while the Zegato/Bertone, is said to feature an H6P processor and 1GB of RAM, and Bluetooth 4.0. Well we are Desperate to See how Aggressively Apple will Price this Device.
