[Update] In Pictures: Nissan Terrano Revealed One Day Before Launched

Nissan India will unveil a new compact SUV tomorrow, 20th Aug in Mumbai. Named Terrano, it is based on Renault‘s best selling car globally, Duster. But before Nissan unveils Terrano officially, Twitter user @mrunalgandhi has managed to spot and click images of Terrano. These uncamouflaged pictures of the Nissan Terrano reveal the complete exteriors of the vehicle, which is clearly a re-badged Renault Duster with changes to many body parts. Nissan is expected to start sales of the Terrano as soon as next month, otherwise the company wouldn’t be dispatching cars to dealers.

With first clear shots now available online, we finally have a chance to judge this all new member of Indian auto industry. Expected to be offered with the same set of petrol and diesel engine options as seen on Duster, Terrano will cost more. This is because of the same reason Renault and Nissan have been sharing vehicles between each other (Micra-Pulse, Sunny-Scala), the Terrano is more than a badge change. Although the overall shape of the Terrano looks more or less like the Duster, Nissan has made extensive changes to the front and rear of the vehicle with the side seeing a higher body line going through the door handles rather than below it

As far as exterior look is concerned, Nissan Terrano offers a larger looking body. Protruding front bumper with bigger headlights, aims to give Terrano a muscular look. Rear too is given an aggressive look, especially the lower part. Ground clearance is huge, giving you an opportunity to off-road. More details is expected to be revealed at the launch in Mumbai tomorrow. But until then, you can have a look at the images below, which give a decent idea of Terrano’s design.

The side of the Nissan Terrano carries the same mirrors and roof rails (finished in silver at the rear rather than black) but you get differently designed alloy wheels and blackened B and C-pillars. The rear is where most of the changes seem to be done. Except the rear windshield, everything else is new in terms of design like the new chrome garnish which thankfully doesn’t have TERRANO boldly written on it. The rear hatch door has different cuts and the tail lights are a two piece unit each which seem to be inspired from the Force One SUV.

The Nissan Terrano looks Whole Different For the Renault duster But It looks as same as Force one Suv. Other than the exterior changes, Nissan will also make changes to the interiors of the Terrano but they will be very minor. The dashboard will remain largely the same as the Duster but Nissan will give the Terrano a new instrument cluster and AC vents. The steering wheel will adorn the Nissan badge but save for these changes, the rest of the cabin will be identical to the Terrano’s French cousin. The Terrano will be powered by the same 1.5-litre k9k diesel engine and a petrol option is unlikely.

The Nissan Terrano will be priced around Rs. 50,000/- more than the Renault Duster which will make it difficult for the Japanese company to convince buyers to opt for their SUV over Renault’s.Its Not Only Duster Coming in Their Way The EcoSport Standing Tall Just Like a Wall In Their Road To The Buyers. UPDATE:  As We Have Revealed Nissan Terrano One day Before Now Terrano Has Been Officially Revealed we Bring You The Sneek Peek Of The Nissan Terrano Launch And Its Interior. Nissan unveiled the Terrano earlier today, putting up a show at the event by calling the vehicle a blockbuster, even before its launch. Nissan’s confidence is worth applauding as the company feels it can pocket an additional Rs. 50,000/- over the Renault Duster.

At today’s event, Nissan highlighted the design of the Terrano, which although a Duster under the skin, is being marketed as a blockbuster with Nissan SUV genes (a DNA test will reveal it’s has Dacia heritage). The features are identical to the Duster, which means the top-end variant gets ABS, airbags, touch-screen audio system, steering column mounted audio controls, etc. The Nissan Terrano will be offered with three engines, which are identical to the Duster. The company plans to export the Terrano in the future and hence the 1.6-litre petrol engine is being offered in the vehicle. It produces 101 PS of power and 145 Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre k9k diesel engine is offed in two states of tune, producing 85 PS, 200 Nm and 110 PS, 248 Nm respectively. There is no automatic gearbox on offer.

On the inside, the Nissan Terrano gets two tone beige interiors with piano black finish on the centre console and chrome surrounds around the AC vents. The steering wheel is all new and the space inside is identical to the Duster. The storage space on the top of the centre console is now closed to increase utility. The Nissan Terrano will be offered in 6 colours namely grey, silver, bronze, red, black and white. The vehicle will be priced around Rs. 50,000/- more than the Renault Duster. Do you think this badge-engineering is worth the extra premium?

The space inside the Terrano is identical to the Duster, which means the cabin is spacious and can seat five in comfort.

The Nissan Terrano boasts of premium styling over the Renault Duster. The carmaker has already started dispatching the Terrano to a few dealers. From the looks of it, Nissan has done significant changes on the exteriors including new set of headlamps and tail lamps along with revised bumpers, redesigned grille and roof rails. The overall stance of the Nissan Terrano remains the same as the Duster and so are the underpinnings, which are identical.

The Renault Duster costs between Rs. 2 – 2.5 lakhs more than the Ford EcoSport. The price difference between the top-end Duster (110 PS) and top-end EcoSport stretches up to Rs. 3.50 lakhs. With Nissan charging a premium of Rs. 50,000/- over the Duster, the price difference between the top-end EcoSport and top-end Duster will be a whooping Rs. 4 lakhs. You still won’t get button start, SYNC, leather seats, side airbags and climate control after paying the additional amount for the Terrano. No doubt the Terrano will offer more cabin space, a bigger boot and a better ride quality but is that enough to justify such a massive premium? You Can Drop Yours View In "Comment Section"
