As we Reported Previously about Wagon R Stingray 2013 Model, Now it has Been Officially Launched. This hatchback, a more efficient version of the WagonR, is being launched in time to cash in on increased sales during the festive season. It was unveiled in Delhi and online by Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India and will be offered as petrol, CNG and LPG variants.
The Wagon R Stingray is a premium version of the Wagon R which gets unique front-end styling along with more features. WagonR Stingray has a sportier appeal and well defined interiors while exteriors will be seen with electronically adjusted rear view mirrors and projector headlights. The hatchback’s top variants are fitted with anti lock braking system and airbags.
Maruti Suzuki has given the Wagon R Stingray a body kit and the front bumper is all new with a large radiator grille. The top-end model also gets segment first projector headlights. The grille has a glass cover and the flat hood makes the Stingray look very different. The roof rails have been removed and the rear adorns clear lens tail lights. 14-inch gun metal alloy wheels fill the wheel arches very well.
On the interior front, the Wagon R Stingray gets all black interiors instead of dual tone ones. Piano black finishing has been added on the dashboard and doors to give that premium feel. The layout of the dashboard remains the same but the instrument cluster now displays distance to empty and real time mileage. ABS, driver side airbag, electrically adjustable rear view mirrors, steering mounted audio controls and projector headlights are offered in the top trim of the Wagon R Stingray. It is available in five exterior colour options – blue, red, grey, white and silver.
The Maruti Stingray is powered by the same, K10B, 998cc, 3-cylinder petrol motor that powers the WagonR. The power and torque figures remain the same too, with about 67 BHP @6200 RPM and 90 Nm @ 3500 RPM. This engine is mated to a 5-speed cable-type manual transmission, which is no different from the WagonR. The Maruti Stingray has an ARAI certified fuel-efficiency of 20.51 KMPL, which is the same as the WagonR. Maruti Suzuki has Not Updated The wagon r Stingray Engine as we have talked About in Previous Stingray 2013 Engine Which Gives You the Mileage Of 28Km/per litre.
The top spec VXi (o) will get driver side airbags and ABS while the Stingray is slated to have fuel economy of 20.51 kmpl. Stingray will have a number of common features with the current WagonR.
Maruti Suzuki has surely taken a bold step by bringing the Stingray in India, which boasts of zilch mechanical changes over the regular Wagon R. The hatchback segment is a very price sensitive one, so it remains to be seen if buyers will be ready to shell out the extra amount for a vehicle which looks different from other hatchbacks.
Maruti Suzuki is confident that the Stingray will be as successful as the WagonR of which they have sold a total of 1.3 million units ever since the model was launched fourteen years ago in 1999. Stingray will compete with Nissan Micra and Micra Active 2013 besides the Hyundai Grand i10.
