After Revealing Nokia First Phablet 1520 at Abu Dubai. Nokia unveiled three new Asha phone on the new Asha UI which the company had first introduced with the Asha 501. As expected, the company has launched the Asha 500, the Asha 502 and the Asha 503 at its World event in Abu Dhabi where the company has also announced its first ever Lumia tablet and phablets, along with other devices and apps. Nokia has not announced the exact pricing for the phones and has mentioned that these new smart feature phones would likely be priced competitively below Rs 6,500. These phones will be shipped in the last quarter of the 2013.
These three devices, which essentially are slightly revamped versions of the Asha 501 released this spring, will likely get the most facetime in emerging markets thanks to their smartphone-like features and reasonable price.
All these three affordable handset models will follow the Asha design model but with a twist. As expected, Nokia has introduced a new crystal-clear look with these phones. So these phones will come in a transparent frame from outside with a bold inner color encase. The phones will be available in bright red, bright green, yellow, cyan, white and black colors. On the software side, the phones will comes with the enhanced Asha platform with new user interface with easy swipe multiple homescreens with Fastlane feature amongst others.
Specifications-wise, the Nokia Asha 500 features a 2.8-inch screen, and comes in single SIM and Easy Swap Dual SIM variants. It will also have a 2-megapixel camera. The Asha 500 will be available in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East with an estimated price of $69 (Rs 4,259) excluding taxes or subsidies.
The Nokia Asha 502 comes with 3-inch display and sports a 5-megapixel camera accompanied by an LED flash. Unlike the Asha 500, the Asha 502 comes only in dual-SIM variant with Nokia's Easy Swap technology. It comes at $89 (Rs. 5,500 approximately) excluding local taxes and subsidies, and will be rolled out in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East.
The most interesting is the Asha 503, which will be launched in two variants – single SIM and dual-SIM compatible, with support for 3G network on one SIM. Just like the Asha 501 this phone will also come with a 3-inch screen. However, additionally there will also be a Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protecting the display, which would actually be a treat to users in the affordable segment. Besides there will be a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. The phone is likely to be priced for $99 (without subsidies and taxes) in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, which would be close to Rs 6,111 in India.
All newly announced Asha phones, the Asha 500, Asha 502 and Asha 503 features the updated Fastlane app (seen below on the Asha 503), which was introduced in Asha 501.
