Micromax Canvas LapTab Revealed with Dual-Boot Tablet Running Window 8 & Android 4.2 at CES 2014

Micromax, the popular Indian mobile and tablet brand, has started its CES 2014 campaign with the unveiling of the Canvas LapTab tablet. Indian's second largest smartphone maker, Micromax, has launched a dual-boot tablet device at the ongoing CES tech fair. The company has been making Android-tablets for quite some time, but this time the case is different.

The highlight feature of the Micromax Canvas LapTab tablet is its Android Jelly Bean and Windows 8.1 dual-boot functionality. The makers behind Canvas HD announced LapTab, a dual-boot tablet supporting Android Jelly Bean and Windows 8.1. With the LapTab, Micromax has become the first Indian tech vendor to announce a dual-boot tablet device.

The device will run both Windows 8.1 and Android Jelly Bean so that you can switch between the two depending on your usage requirement. The Micromax Lap Tab features a 10.1-inch IPS display having a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels. Further, the device incorporates a 1.46GHz Intel Celeron N2805 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM.

Other features include 2-megapixel front camera, 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 64GB using a microSD card and a 7,400mAh battery. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and as mentioned above, on the software front. Micromax has also bundled a sleeve with a wireless keyboard, which has its own 230mAh battery promising more than 20 hours of usage overall.

The dual boot tablet category is an interesting entry for the indigenous brand and should provide an interesting balance between productivity and entertainment applications. It also comes with Transleeve cover. Micromax has revealed the tablet far away from India, but its India launch will happen next month. The tablet will go on sale next month at an undisclosed priced.
