Micromax Mad A94, Let You Pay For Watching Ads available for Rs 8,490

Micromax has concluded its recently conducted 'Mad About Ads' teaser campaign, with the launch of the Micromax Advertising Application (MAd), alongside the release of its first smartphone with the app preloaded on it, the Micromax MAd A94.

As mentioned above, this phone’s USP is an in-built app which pays you for watching ads. By registering on the app, you will be able to earn points for every ad watched which can then be converted to real world money. This money will be credited to your prepaid or postpaid account.

How does MAd work?

  • Built-in MAd app allows users to watch advertisements and earn points from every advertisement one views
  • Requires one time registration for all opted-in subscribers across all telecom operators
  • Dial any mobile/landline number in India and you will get an option to watch an ad before you make the call.
  • View the ads shown to you and proceed to make your call
  • With every successful call made after watching an ad, you collect points
  • Points can be converted into rupees, which will be credited into postpaid/pre-paid accounts.

The specifics about the phone are scarce, though Micromax does say it is a 4.5-inch FWVGA display (854×480) with a 5-megapixel camera on the front and rear, which can shoot 720p videos. It’s got a Broadcom BCM23550 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 512MB of RAM and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

The battery is 1800 mAh, which could prove to be less than ample, if one is watching ads most of the time. You’ll find Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi, and 3G connectivity and 4GB of storage onboard. That can be expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card. Apart from the MAd app, other preloaded apps include the M!Live portal, BBM, Hike, Spuul, Kingsoft Office, and Opera Mini browser. More information about the MAd app can be found on the company's MAd portal.

The Micromax Canvas Mad A94 comes in Black and White colors and is priced at Rs. 8,490. It would go on sale across India starting today.
