SuperScooter: Hero unveiled Leap electric hybrid Scooter, Dash 110cc Scooter And RNT Diesel Hybrid Scooter

As We Reported Earlier in our Article The SuperBike Launched By Hero. Now we Reveals The Scooters Launched By Hero. Barring the 150cc diesel model 'RNT', the company plans to launch all other four models in the next financial year. So The First Scooter in our List is …..

In a spate of unveilings today and sending a shockwave across the two wheeler market particularly with the HX250R, Hero Motocorp also unveiled the Hero Leap Hybrid Scooter.  Hero claims that the flat acceleration curve is better than other petrol scooters in the market. The top speed is an impressive 100 kph albeit while running with the range extender.

Hero Leap Electric Scooter

The Hero Leap is India’s first series hybrid scooter which is powered by a lithium-ion battery and an 8 kW (10.73 BHP) electric traction motor with an on-board generator. The engine is an all new 124cc unit which uses belt drive, direct from the motor to the rear wheel. The front uses telescopic forks and a 240 mm disc while the rear is a unit swing with hydraulic dampers and 130 mm drum. The Hero Leap runs on 110/70/13 front tyre and 120/70/11 rear tyre, mounted on alloy wheels.

The Hero Leap uses LEDs for the headlamp (which is a projector), position lamp, and stop lamp. It is 1884 mm long, 850 mm wide with a height of 1162 mm. The wheelbase of the Hero Leap is 1347 mm while the ground clearance is 140 mm. The Hero Leap weighs a heavy 140 kgs and the fuel tank capacity is 3-litres. The scooter is underpinned by a steel tubular frame. The battery and motor are placed in a such a way that the scooter has a low centre of gravity for improved agility.

The final drive of the Hero Leap is through a high-tech toothed belt which uses reinforced super strength fibre and needs no maintenance or adjustment, it lasts the life time of the vehicle. The Hero Leap uses fuel injection and also has regenerative braking

RNT Diesel Hybrid Scooter

The Second In our List Is RNT (150cc diesel Concept Bike). It Still Confusing That’s it’s a Bike or a Scooter But Before that it is Still a Prototype It will Take Shape After Testing it For Rough Condition!

Hero Motocorp, as a part of their five product unveil today in New Delhi, has also uncovered the revolutionary RNT diesel hybrid scooter. The new scooter, in addition to being the first ever hybrid diesel scooter in the country, also features technology which is unheard of in the mainstream segment. The Hero RNT diesel hybrid scooter, apart from featuring diesel hybrid tech, also introduces turbocharging to the segment with its liquid cooled 4-stroke direct injection turbcharged diesel engine

The 150cc Hero RNT boasts peak power of an impressive 13.5bhp @4000 rpm, and a mind boggling 35Nm of peak torque at an ultra low 1600 rpm. We also expect some absolutely mind shattering fuel efficiency figures from this scooter too. The load carrying capacity would be something extraordinary as well, going by those specs. The marvel of a new engine is mated with a six-speed constant mesh transmission

What Make it Special is That Hero RNT gets an option of a hub electric motor with an electric battery pack which channels up to 1.34 BHP of power to the front wheels. This is operated using a secondary throttle and can work independently or in conjunction with the chain drive. This bike has what it takes to replace tractors in the farms! You can also opt for a stationary generator to make your Hero RNT a hybrid machine. This provides 1500 W of continuos electric power (6.5 A at 230 V). The new bike weighs 136kg, has a fuel tank capacity of 6 liters for mains and manages to do a 0-60km/g sprint in 5 seconds. Top speed, however is limited to a rather slow 70 kmph. It will Launch in 2015

Hero Dash

The Third & Last one in our List Is Hero Dash Scooter. Hero MotoCorp has announced a new 110cc scooter called Dash. The Hero Dash is powered by a 111cc, 4-stroke, forced air-cooled engine. This is the same Honda motor which powers a various number of scooters in India (from Hero and Honda). The Hero Dash produces 8.44 BHP of power at 7500 RPM and 9.4 Nm of torque at 5750 RPM. The scooter uses telescopic front forks, running on 90/90/12 front tyre and 90/90/10 rear tyre. The tyres are tubeless running on alloy wheels and the brakes are 130 mm drums at both ends utilising Hero’s integrated braking system.

The fuel tank capacity is 6.0-litres with 1.8-litres being reserve. The Hero Dash features a key operated external fuel lid and also comes with service due and side stand indicator warnings in the console. The scooter also gets a mobile charging socket. The company claims the under seat storage is large which also gets a light. The dual tone mirrors and digital analog meter are other highlights. Ground clearance is at 155mm and kerb weight is 110kg for the self start version of the scooter. Fuel capacity of the scooter is 6 liter with a useable reserve of 1.8 liters.

“Barring RNT (the 150 cc diesel concept bike), the remaining four models, will be launched in the next year. We plan to launch 150cc Xtreme Sports bike in the first quarter, 110cc scooter Dash in the second quarter and Leap (the hybrid scooter) and 250cc sports bike in the second half of the next fiscal,” Managing Director and CEO Pawan Munjal told reporters here.
