Looks Like Hero is not giving up any chances to Shock us with Their Expanding Portfolio. Previously Hero unvield Hero HX250 And Some Hybrid Scooter too, Now They Come up with Powerful Scooter. After conquering the commuter segment, it seems Hero MotoCorp has set its sight on the automatic scooter segment. Hero Motocorp is looking at expanding its product product portfolio it the 100 to 150cc scooter market. The scooter that grabbed the most number of eyeballs was definitely the ZIR- a 150cc scooter. The ZIR was unveiled in two different variants, the flat board model and the stunning European style step thru.
The ZIR has been loaded with features, which were never seen in the scooter segment, like dual projector headlamps with day light running lights integrated in them, petal disc brakes, LED turn indicators and tail lamp, windscreen etc. Apart from visual differences, the European style step thru variant gets additional features like cowl-mounted console, and a larger windscreen.
The Zie comes in two variants, one is a European style step thru model while the other is a flat floor model. It is powered by a 150cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke OHC engine. The engine produces 14 BHP of power and 12.7 Nm of torque. The front suspension comes with telescopic shock absorbers while the rear suspension comes with dual shock absorbers which can be adjusted in five positions. The maximum fuel tank capacity is 9-litres.
The Hero Zir comes with a 12 V – 6 aH battery to power all the electricals. The ground clearance is 155 mm and the length, width and height are 2085 mm, 745 mm and 1385 mm respectively. The Hero Zir weighs 139 kgs. Additional features are hydraulic braking system, dual projector headlights, daytime running light, protection screen, LED indicators, digital instrument cluster, mobile phone integration, integrated pillion handle and step seat.
Also unveiled at the event was the new Dare scooter. The Dare is a 125cc scooter, which according to Hero has been designed to appeal to the male buyers with its snazzy and sporty styling. The Dare is powered by a 125cc, air-cooled mill pumping out 9PS of power and 9.5Nm of torque. The new offering has been loaded with features like telescopic forks, disc brake at front, alloy wheels, LED day light running lamps and tail light, full digital instrument console, mobile phone charging socket, boot light etc. The Dare will be launched by mid-2014 and no details about its pricing were given at the unveiling event
Targeted at men, DARE is loaded with external features that enhance the overall style statement such as dual-tone body colour, sporty textured seat, telescopic forks, dual tone alloy wheels, LED day light, LED tail light, full digital console and body painted brake calliper. This too comes with some standard utility features such as mobile phone charging socket, side stand indicator, pass switch and boot light.
Hero claims that the ZIR can hit a top speed of 110km/h if we talk about mileage it can touch upto 45km mileage. Hero announced that the ZIR will be launched only in 2015 and haven’t revealed any details about its pricing. With the ZIR, Hero plans to revive a new segment of maxi-scooters, which was started by the Kinetic Blaze close to a decade back. But the Blaze wasn’t accepted warmly by the consumers but whether Hero would succeed or fail only time will tell but with the ZIRE it has made a strong statement.
