Nissan has officially unveiled the twelfth generation of the its popular pickup truck, the Navara. After several teaser images and leaks, Nissan has formally unveiled the all-new 2015 Navara pickup truck. The pickup truck segment accounts for a maximum share of sales in many international markets but the Indian market has only a limited number of vehicles in this segment namely the Tata Xenon, Mahindra Genio and Isuzu D-Max.
The 2015 Nissan Navara has been officially unveiled earlier this month and it is coming with a higher ground clearance, a lower roof, a larger loading area and in a variety of body styles, such as the king and double cab with two-wheel or all-wheel drive. Two new color choices are also available for the model, the Savannah Yellow and the Earth Bronze.
The next Navara wears an evolutionary design characterized by elongated headlamps with LED daytime running lights and a more rounded version of Nissan's trademarked U-shaped radiator grille. The changes to the rear end include a more shapely tailgate with an integrated spoiler and larger tail lamps, while a sculpted front bumper and a curved hood give the 2015 Navara a less chunky overall appearance than the outgoing model. Like the current model, the next Navara will be offered with several body styles including King and Crew cabs as well as two different bed lengths.
The pickup truck will be available with a wide range of body types and will be offered with various powertrain options. The vehicle will be offered with both all-wheel drive and two-wheel drive options. The interiors of the Navara will have major changes when compared with its predecessor and the pickup truck will now feature a redesigned dashboard which also includes an all new multi-function steering wheel.
The engine options include a 2.5 liter four-cylinder diesel along with a four-cylinder gasoline engine with the same displacement. The former can be had with 161 HP and 403 Nm or with 188 HP and 450 Nm. Both engines come standard with six-speed manual transmission, but a seven-speed automatic unit that Nissan promises noticeably improves gas mileage and performance is available as an option. Power is sent to the rear wheels or to all four wheels depending on configuration.
Four-wheel drive models come with electronic driving aids such as Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist. Nissan has concentrated on increasing the fuel economy of this pickup truck and the Japanese automaker says that the fuel efficiency has been improved by 11 percent over the previous generation model. Expected to go on sale before the end of the year, Nissan didn’t announce any pricing details for the moment.
