Mahindra Introduce's New Generation Scorpio at Rs 7.98 Lakhs

Scorpio Recently introduces us with the new Generation Scorpio, the Mahindra Scorpio has been around for more than a decade tus it seriously need Update. Mahindra & Mahindra’s second-generation Scorpio, the new W105, is a car that is seriously improved – a genuine leap forward over the current generation. So what exactly is new and what’s carried over?

At First Look it looks to be highly inspired by the Transformer Movie Series read more you get to know more. The biggest change on the new Scorpio is the all-new chassis and suspension system, which will also form the basis of a new generation of cars from Mahindra. The new modular chassis is considerably stiffer than the outgoing frame and it is much safer too. The all-new front suspension is lighter and sports service-free hubs, whilst the new rear axle is now supported by a newly added anti-roll bar. The wheelbase is the same, but the Scorpio now sits on a track that is substantially wider.

The exteriors are highly redesigned and now the Scorpio gets new bumpers, wheels, grille, headlights, tail lamps, fog lamps and cladding. The headlights come with LED eyebrows while the tail lights feature LEDs too. The Scorpio looks significantly different than the outgoing version. It looks good in darker shades like Regal Blue and Fiery Black while it looks hideous in the Diamond White shade. Highlights include Scorpio lettering inside the clusters and a little blue on the reverse alert lamps.

Step inside and it’s a whole new world. The dashboard design is completely new and now gets a dollop of contemporary style and a dual tone color scheme. The centre console is rather smart, with boxy HVAC vents, the 6” touch screen infotainment system with Bluetooth/CD/DVD/Aux analogous to the one in the XUV500. Like all Mahindra’s, a tall gear lever makes its presence felt- this one though had a brushed chrome finished knob going with the up market theme. The middle row occupants’ gets a blast of cool because of the additional air vents but the third row stays high and dry- what with no roof-mounted A/C vents.

The new Mahindra Scorpio gets an all-new platform that also features a cushion suspension and anti-roll technologies to make the SUV a better rider and handler. The 2.2-litre mHawk engine gives out 120 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an all-new 5MT320 transmission which is designed to provide slicker gear shifts as compared to the outgoing model. The Scorpio gives a claimed fuel efficiency of 15.37 km/l. Mahindra has added the option of shift on the fly 4WD system too.


Coming to the safety front, the new Mahindra Scorpio is equipped with dual front airbags, ABS, crumple zones with crash protection, collapsible steering column, engine immobilizer, panic braking indicator, auto door lock, anti-theft warning, speed alert warning and anti-pinch driver’s side window. It also gets a height adjustable driver’s seat, hydraulic-assisted bonnet, rear AC vents, cruise control, steering-mounted audio controls, electric ORVMs and headlights with Follow Me function.

The Mahindra Scorpio is priced between Rs. 7.98 to Rs. 11.46 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). It seems like a very interesting and value-for-money proposition when compared to the Tata Safari Storme and Renault Duster, the competition now got Hotter in this winter with all new Scorpio.
