Oppo R5 the New Slimmest Smartphone in the World launched along with Oppo N3

Oppo recently Snatched the title for “The Slimmest Smartphone in the World” From Gionee launching the Slimmest of them Oppo R5, previously Gionee Hold the Guinness Book of World Record for the Slimmest Smartphone called Gionee Elife S5.1 which is just 5.1mm thick Oppo achieved new Record with only  4.8mm thick but with Great Achievement comes Great Compromise.

Oppo N3 and R5 smartphones Launched at a global launch event in Singapore. The most exciting thing about the R5 is, of course, its design. The phone is just 4.85 millimeters thick, which may be a record, given that several Chinese phonemakers announced devices with similar sizes. All things considered, the Oppo R5 is the thinnest device from a major international player. The R5 features a straight metallic frame and angular corners, with this motif carrying on to the camera module. The camera, however, protrudes visibly, a tradeoff that Oppo had to make to shave off millimeters without affecting image quality.

The Oppo R5 features a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) AMOLED display that offers a pixel density of 423ppi. The R5 is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (MSM8939) processor (2.1GHz quad-core + 1.5GHz quad-core) alongside with 2GB of RAM and Adreno.

It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX214 sensor; an f/2.0 aperture, and a LED flash. There is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera also onboard. Running the company's proprietary ColorOS 2.0.1 (based on Android 4.4 KitKat), it supports a single Micro-SIM and comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage which is non-expandable.

There is 2000mAh battery and the smartphone supports VOOC charging technology that is said to charge the battery from 0 to 75 percent in around 30 minutes. Connectivity options on the smartphone include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS/ EDGE, TD LTE, LTE FDD

To attain the R5’s thinness, Oppo has done away with the 3.5mm audio jack as it is thicker than the phone itself. Instead it bundles a pair of headphones that connect to the phone’s micro-USB port. So essentially if you own a pair of headphones from any of the leading brands, it won’t work with this smartphone. Unless of course, you buy a micro-USB to 3.5mm jack adapter. The Oppo R5 will be available for $499 in the following months.

The newest attraction that one would notice on the Oppo N3 is the swivel camera. You might have seen it on the Oppo N1. On the N1 you would have to manually rotate the camera. Oppo have taken this a step further, they have automated it. The N3 comes with motorized swivel camera.
