Mahindra on a mission of launching sub-segment SUV time to time that No Hyundai No Maruti Suzuki could match up with Mahindra. Mahindra already has Scorpio, Bolero, Xylo performing and achieving good sales and still many of new SUV has to come in future including SsangYong Tivoli.
Mahindra SsangYong Rexton has already shown its importance in Indian market now the next one could be SsangYong Tivoli as The Mahindra owned Korean giant has imported two units of the Tivoli in the country for R&D purposes with power coming from a 1.6-litre engine.
SsangYong Tivoli come with a leather interior, dual-zone air conditioning, cruise control, heated front seats and a colour touchscreen incorporating a reversing camera. Go up to the top-level ELX and you get TomTom satnav and even more kit.
Tivoli is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine that produces 128bhp and has a six-speed manual gearbox. If you want a four-wheel drive Tivoli then you have to have the 1.6-litre diesel engine.
Don’t go with the looks, this is a big car inside with loads of room for four adults and 423 litres of boot space with the rear seats up and in maximum legroom position. In order to introduce the SsangYong Tivoli though, Mahindra will have to heavily localise the model in order to achieve a competitive price tag.
You might be thinking what a insane name is this “Tivoli” but there is a twist behind this, if you really twist it the words and read it from the back you’ll find something like this “ILOVIT” for this i really would have given 10/10.
Lets back to the business, do not expect an immediate launch of the SsangYong Tivoli in the country. For now, Mahindra is concentrating on XUV100 Mini-SUV launch in this December while except Tivoli to go on sale in 2016. Well for the price it could start from Rs 6.99 ($10,000)
