Video: Xiaomi's Mi 5 new 4-axis stabilization outperform the Apple's iPhone 6s optical stabilization

As we have told you in our previous article about 5 essential features of Mi 5 and now its time to take it even one step further and show its powerpack performance specially in camera segment. We already know what Xiaomi Mi 5 is capable of with Snapdragon 820 but other than that Xiaomi seems to be particularly proud of is the new, 16-megapixel camera on the Mi 5

Xiaomi Mi 5 is one of the first phone to feature 4-axis optical video stabilization (OIS). The Xiaomi Mi 5 features a Sony IMX298 sensor with PDAF and 6P lens protected by a sapphire glass lens. The smartphone also has 4-axis OIS, which the company claims is better than the 2-axis OIS on the iPhone 6s Plus. The 4-axis OIS offers better stabilization in vertical, horizontal and even rotational motion.

In a video, Xiaomi demonstrated how good the camera of Mi 5 is compared to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Xiaomi showed off a test they conducted to test the video stabilization of Mi 5 against the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. In the video, we can see the setup where all three smartphones are placed with video recording turned on.

The assembly shakes while recording the video from the three smartphones. The iPhone 6s that doesn’t have OIS obviously has a lot of shake, the iPhone 6s Plus fares better but the Mi 5 offers the best performance with relatively little shake. You can check out the video for yourself below.

By looking at the camera as it records video, though, one can see directly how effective OIS alone is on the two phones, and the Xiaomi Mi 5 beats it by a mile. Truly impressive.
