CDMA to LTE 4G Upgradation; According to an Economic Times report, RCom will begin with Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Odisha circles and later reach out to Mumbai and Delhi. The operator is expected to wrap up the process by August 15. The report further claims that the operator has already started informing its users in these circles about the upgrade to 4G network. Since CDMA users are mostly using low-end phones, RCom is expected to offer several schemes including instalment plans for 4G enabled smartphones.
“At present, Jio SIM cards are only available to Reliance employees, post its beta launch in December 2015. Our speed test on trial SIM cards in Reliance outlets indicate network speed of 18-20 Mbps versus Vodafone’s 4G speed of 8-10 Mbps.”
The development strongly hints that Reliance Jio will be launching its 4G LTE services within a few weeks. The operator has already shipped its 4G LTE SIMs to Reliance Digital, which is VoLTE enabled LYF smartphones. According to recent reports, Jio will soft launch its services by end of this month and the full roll-out is expected by December end.
