Xiaomi finally took the wraps off its much-awaited flagship smartphone — the Mi 6 which is the second most powerful Smartphone after Samsung Galaxy S8 of this year. The Xiaomi Mi 6 blends of the latest hardware, fabulous design, new feature and mouth-watering price tag.
Xiaomi Mi 6 is an exceptionally good device and considering its price is half the price of the Galaxy S8, a high-end phone that ships with the same system chip as the Mi 6. It’s also half the price of Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus, We take a quick look at everything that is new in the Xiaomi Mi 6.
Mi 6 design
The Mi 6 device will lure you with its four-sided 3D curved glass while the front and back glass have a glossy surface with smooth finish. The frame is made from stainless steel, has rounded edges, and high-gloss outline to resist wear and tear its add premium feel to it.
Ceramic Edition – Xiaomi is also offering a variant made from ceramic, with 18-karat gold rims around the camera modules. Despite being made from ceramic, Xiaomi has gone for 8 Mohs of hardness to ensure it is resistant to wear and tear.
Qualcomm’s Sense ID technology
In short it means Fingerprint scanner underneath the Display, apply the fingerprint anywhere on the screen and unlock it within the seconds. It’s an ultrasonic scanner that uses Qualcomm’s Sense ID technology to map the ridges and pores on users’ finger. According to Xiaomi, the scanner works even wet, dirty or oily fingers.
Mi 6 Display
The Xiaomi Mi 6 features a 5.15-inch display with eye care mode. It can attain brightness of 600nits, high color saturation and also features blue light filter to reduce stress on your eyes, especially in the dark. However, Xiaomi has not mentioned anything about the display resolution yet.
Snapdragon 835 chipset
The Mi 6 is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 835 octa-core SoC built on 10nm fabrication process with All-new Kryo 280 microarchitecture, paired with 6GB of RAM and Adreno 540 GPU
The Apple iPhone 7 already have Dual-camera then why does Mi 6 lack behind. The dual-rear camera setup on the Mi 6 includes – a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens with 4-axis optical image stabilization (OIS) along with a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. The dual cameras work similar to the ones on the iPhone 7 – you get 2X optical lossless zoom and 10X digital zoom with ISP (image signal processing) algorithms.
There is also a dedicated Portrait Mode for adding DSLR-like depth-of-field effects (Bokeh) to make your photos stand out. Xiaomi says it has used binocular imaging system along with deep learning algorithms to focus on the subject and blur the background. Even after blurring the background, the focus on the object remains stern and the results are quite impressive
Similar to the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and HTC U Ultra, the Mi 6 also has a stereo speaker setup. When listening to music or watching a video, the earpiece doubles as a speaker, for an immersive dual speaker experience.
On the connectivity front, you get dual Wi-Fi technology for better connectivity, 4G with VoLTE, Bluetooth, GPS and USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. To keep things ticking, the Mi 6 packs a 3,350mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 feature. The handset runs on Android Nougat 7.0 topped with Xiaomi’s custom MIUI OS.
Pricing starts at the equivalent of $363 USD for the model with 64GB of native storage. The unit packing 128GB of native storage will cost the equivalent of $421 USD, and the Ceramic edition is priced at the equivalent of $436 USD. The Xiaomi Mi 6 will be released on April 28th at Mi.com and in all 72 Mi Home stores in China.
