Hugo Barra says Farewell to Xiaomi as he return back to Silicon Valley

Today was a very tough day for Xiaomi as Hugo Barra — Vice President, Xiaomi Global announced today in a Facebook post that he will be leaving the company in February after Chinese New Year. This came as a sudden shock to us and Mi Global fans too as Xiaomi was growing very well under the leadership of Hugo Barra.

He will be replaced by current IP & Partnerships chief Xiang Wang. Today, Hugo Barra posted a long message on his Facebook page explaining why he decided to leave Xiaomi, but he did little to shed light on his future plans.

… what I’ve realized is that the last few years of living in such a singular environment have taken a huge toll on my life and started affecting my health. My friends, what I consider to be my home, and my life are back in Silicon Valley, which is also much closer to my family. Seeing how much I’ve left behind these past few years, it is clear to me that the time has come to return.

So basically for Hugo China was a tough place to live in might due to the pollution & the tough working environment in China which might have affected Hugo Health and then he decide to return back from where he left, his own Silicon Valley.

According to Barra, Xiaomi is in a very good position on its global expansion road, which made his decision much easier. He also highlights the company’s achievements in India where Xiaomi reported $1 billion in annual revenues, as well as the expansion in other countries like Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia. He also said that he will continue to help Xiaomi as an Advisor.

At last, we like to say Thank you for all the effort & Hard work with all dedication you have ever done for Xiaomi making to reach it Globally and at such high point, Wish you all the luck for your future.
