LG is said to manufacture the bigger display Google Pixel XXL 2 codenamed ‘Taimen’ instead of HTC
Google is going to launch the second generation Pixel smartphones later this year. Google has been reported to launch three smartphones probably – Pixel 2, Pixel XL 2 and third to be a larger device. As per the recent reports, Google has scrapped the Pixel XL 2 (code-named “Muskie”) idea but there is nothing to be worry as Google will still launch two Pixel devices this year.
At the time, it still not clear why Google is dropping the “Muskie” from the Pixel lineup, it has been said that Google wants to shift all their attention towards the “Taimen” which is going to the biggest Pixel of all. “Taimen” is going to be special that because it is reported to be manufactured by non-other than LG not HTC.
This thing came to light with a new bug report entry from March 2017, found by 9to5Google in the Android Issue Tracker. The entry reads: Android > Partner > External > LGE > Taimen > power, which strongly suggest LG Electronics has some involvement with a device called Taimen. LG has previously partnered with Google in the past for Nexus 5X and Nexus 4.
As we have told you before, Google will be releasing two new Pixel phones this year, one with Smaller Display (code-named “Walleye”) about 5-inch Display, while “Taimen” will be bigger than the Pixel XL so it will definitely exceed the existing 5.5-inch Pixel XL.
The new Pixel 2 series will come with IP68 rating for water and dust resistance and also said to come with 4K UHD Premium Foveated Rendering, 10-bit 4K @60fps display capabilities, and Q-SYNC for running high-end mobile VR apps.
