Xiaomi VP Manu Jain Confirms Redmi S2 Coming To India On June 7
Xiaomi last week had launched the Redmi S2 a new Smartphone for especially for Selfies lover and now it seems it may be launching in India sooner than expected. Xiaomi India has scheduled an event in India on June 7th in New Delhi to launch the company’s next selfie-focused smartphone.
It is expected to launch as Redmi Y2 since this looks like the successor of last year’s Redmi Y1. The company is calling it #RealYou smartphone and the tweets have #FindYourSelfie hashtag.
The Redmi S2/Y2 comes with a metal unibody design and sports a 5.99-inch HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by way old Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with 3GB and 4GB RAM variants with 32GB and 64GB of internal storage.
It offered 12MP + 5MP dual cameras setup just like Redmi Note 5 pro on the rear but a 16MP single camera on the front compared to 20MP camera on the Note 5 Pro.
Other features include the triple card slot for adding two nano SIM cards and one MicroSD card. The device is backed by a 3,080mAh non-removable battery and to come with Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9 out of the box, Face Unlock, fingerprint scanner etc.
The Xiaomi Redmi S2 / Y2 comes in Rose gold, Champagne Gold and Platinum Silver colors and was introduced in China starting at 999 yuan (US$ 156 / Rs. 10,560 approx.) We expect the same pricing for Indian variants too. Do tell us in the comment what do you think?
