Chromecast Gaming

Google is adding support for tap gestures in Chromecast. Google new version of Chromecast with Bluetooth support is just around the corner along with the Tap Gesture and its look like Google is interested in making Chromecast a gaming platform too.

A recent code change request on the Chromium repositories talks about adding support for tap gestures in Chromecast.

THE CODE

“[Chromecast] Chromecast support for tap gestures

– The gesture detection is attached to the root window and handles

tap, tap down, long tap, and long press events. A custom handler

(CastGestureHandler) can be installed or removed to handle

these events.

– Renames CastSideSwipeGestureHandlerInterface/CastBackGestureDispatcher

to generalise them.

Well, tap gestures on the Chromecast app are probably for gaming. Google could stream the game over WiFi and use phone’s Bluetooth for controls.

Google is tapping on the Gaming platform with their Chromecast it could change the mobile gaming experience.
