‘Human Uber’ Lets someone else do the work in place of you

Human Uber

Once we all have imagined Robots working in a place of us in future but did you ever imagine a Human working in place of you pretending to be you So You Don’t Have to? I know that goes like a roller coaster but Yes you heard it right. In simple words, the technology has reached at a point where you can hire a person to do the work without actually having to leave the comfort of your home with the help of ‘Human Uber’

Japanese researcher Jun Rekimoto presented his new tech, called ChameleonMask, at MIT Tech Review’s EmTech this week, although it described as “Human Uber” but it just like FaceTime in mobile.

According to its website, the technology “uses a real human as a surrogate for another remote user,” by giving the surrogate “a mask-shaped display that shows a remote user’s live face, and a voice channel transmits a remote user’s voice.”

Surprisingly Rekimoto says the experience of using ChameleonMask is “surprisingly natural,”

In simple terms, it would work like this: Say if you have an important meeting but you are unable to attend it due to illness. Just hire someone to do the job for you while you beam your face onto a ChameleonMask on an iPad while you are lying on your bed in your house. In another world, ChameleonMask is like having a surrogate strap on an iPad mask and venture out into the world for you.

It still unclear how exactly a surrogate is able to see since the ChameleonMask appears to cover the whole head, but maybe it has a front camera that forms a 3D mapping on VR device or maybe eye holes will be coming in the next update. Who knows! You could be talking to a stranger wearing your friend’s face at a party sometime soon!
